Every Tuesday, I will be highlighting a different Tarot card from the Rider Waite tarot deck! This week's card is.....
The Empress is shown sitting on her throne, wearing a crown with twelve stars, which represents the twelve months of the year and her dominance over them. The scepter she holds in her right hand symbolizes her power over life. Notice the setting - wheat field, river, trees behind her. The Empress represents growth, fertility and believing in what comes from the heart. I like to think of her as the "hippie chick" of the Tarot deck.
Fun Fact: In some tarot decks, The Empress is shown to be pregnant.
Upright Position: fertility, femininity, creativity, personal growth and awareness, abundance
Reversed Position: creative blockages, stagnant growth, restriction and oppression
